STUDIES ON THE REMAINS OF THE MULE DEER THAT SHOT AND KILLED BY DNR OFFICIALS NORTH OF THIEF RIVER FALLS IN JANUARY TESTED POSITIVE FOR BRAIN WORM. A SNOWMOBILER THAT HAD BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN A CRASH ON FEBRUARY 24TH NEAR NISSWA HAS DIED. 69-YEAR OLD VICKI GLEASON WAS RIDING ON A TRAIL ALONG HIGHWAY 371 WHEN SHE HIT A HARD SNOWPACK AND FLIPPED. AUTHORITIES SAY SHE WAS WEARING A HELMET AT THE TIME.

WITH MORE SNOWFALL, MINDS ARE AGAIN ON THE SPRING FLOOD FORECAST, AND FOR THE RED RIVER BASIN THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAYS THERE’S A 95 PERCENT CHANCE OF MODERATE FLOODING, WITH 25 PERCENT CHANCE OF MAJOR FLOODING. GREG GUST SAYS FLOODING SIMILAR TO THAT OF 2007 IS VERY POSSIBLE, BUT A SLIM CHANCE OF ANYTHING LIKE 1997.

A NORTHWEST MINNESOTA ARTS COUNCIL TRAVELING EXHIBIT IS AT THE HALLOCK PUBLIC LIBRARY THROUGH THE END OF THE MONTH.AMONG ARTISTS EXHIBITED ARE  MARGARET ANDERSON OF LANCASTER;   PAULETTE CHRISTIANSON OF BADGER;  ALICIA SPILDE OF KARLSTAD AND BETSY SAURDIFF OF GRYGLA.

A FUNDRAISER FOR THE ROSEAU  PEE-WEE AND BANTAM HOCKEY TEAMS IS TOMORROW EVENING  (4-7 PM)  AT GENE’S IN ROSEAU.  BOTH TEAMS ARE PLAYING AT MINNESOTA STATE TOURNAMENTS THIS WEEKEND.
